Exterior plaster work up to how many degrees and let it dry

Exterior plaster is designed to form the building shell for many decades. Stability and stability arise from chemical, hydraulic and physical processes. So that the connection and "solid claws" can develop its effect fully, care must be taken during processing and drying, up to how many degrees Celsius act on him.

Avoid extremes of all kinds

Generally applies to a fresh exterior plaster that he can not tolerate extremes. This applies equally to temperatures and humidity. It should absolutely be avoided to apply the exterior plaster in winter and in midsummer. While protection is possible in the summer due to artificial shading, for example with suspended scaffolding, frost can inhibit the external plaster decisively during setting.

Craftsmen and manufacturers specify as the temperature for processing the range of five to thirty degrees Celsius. It should be noted that this temperature range is not undershot or exceeded until complete setting. In the border areas, other factors such as humidity and rain must also be taken into account.

Plaster thickness and setting time

Simplified, plaster reacts in a similar way to concrete and mortar due to the evaporation of contained water. If it disappears uniformly in the right quantity and time, the plaster develops the hydraulic binding forces it needs. That applies to every layer.

Influencing factors that make the exterior plaster more sensitive to temperatures and that influence the setting process are the strength of the plaster.

For every millimeter of layer thickness, a drying of one day is calculated as a rule of thumb. This time measurement is abbreviated at too high outside temperatures (from about 25 degrees). When the outer plaster freezes, the setting process stops. In the worse case, outside temperatures of less than four degrees appear as manufacturers of iced explosive bombs, which directly damage the exterior plaster.

When creating a thermal insulation composite system with external plaster, the influence of the insulation material on the acting temperature must be taken into account. Foil-based insulating sheets and plastics can limit the temperature range in which the setting process is undisturbed.

Tips & Tricks

If the construction process and progress of your new construction moves the plastering period into "dangerous" seasons and weathering temperatures, you should think about moving the plastering in the sense of a decades-long solution.
