Painting the bedroom - instructions

Painting the bedroom - instructions: instructions

Make your bedroom a place of rest and relaxation. This begins with a new coat of paint in the right colors for personal well-being. This looks different for everyone. Here are some suggestions on how to paint your bedroom.

What is a haven of comfort for some, crushes the next and is felt by him to be too overloaded. It is about personal taste and individual feeling. There are no generally valid ideal solutions if you want to delete your bedroom.

Particularly in the bedroom, the very individual feeling is much more important than taste or zeitgeist. One and the same blue can be perceived as very calming and pleasant by one person and rather dark and cool by another, even if both persons find the color very aesthetic and beautiful.

For a relaxed sleep and a comfortable atmosphere, it pays to invest a little time to make the right choice of color and develop a harmonious color scheme that is tailored to your personal needs.

How do colors work?

Painting the bedroom - instructions: colors

Dark walls make a room look smaller but also more comfortable.

You might think that the colors really are not important with your eyes closed. But that is a mistake, because colors have been proven to affect even blind people. This is not an esoteric view, but has already been discovered by the physicist and Nobel laureate Prof. Nils Finsen (1860-1904), who among other things proved the effect of colors on body temperature in the blind. If they were led into a red room, the body temperature rose, in a blue it fell, although the room temperature was identical. Professor Finsen assumed that color radiation is not only perceived via the retina in the eye, but also through the skin.

Therefore, it is obvious that someone who shivers quickly, is better accommodated in warm colors than in cold and of course vice versa. It becomes particularly difficult when two people with very different color sensations sleep in the same room. In such a case, both should be considered and possibly neutral tones with colored accents are a solution.

Bright tones are friendly and cheerful.

It is also important to consider the proportions of the room when painting a bedroom. With a sloping roof, a room whose ceiling is painted dark looks very different from a very high room. In one case, it pushes, in the other case, it may bring a little more coziness.

In general, dark colors make a room appear smaller, light colors give an impression of more space.

Painting the bedroom - what color?

For each person other circumstances are in the foreground. Those in need of support for a positive mood may feel comfortable in pastel shades or sunny yellows and golds. Anyone who is in need of rest and stressed may find soft, dark tones or blues and greens might be extremely pleasant.

The painting itself

Material: masking tape (eg Frogtape), tarpaulin and / or painting fleece, paint, brush, roller, scraping grid, paint tray

  • Clean up the room, large furniture may also be moved into the room.
  • Before painting, the substrate must be free of dust and grease. When it comes to dust, the walls can be vacuumed. Stains, especially nicotine or mildew stains (instructions to remove stains) should be removed beforehand, otherwise they will break through again.
  • Unscrew the sockets and switch covers just like the covers of roll-up hinges. Quietly turn off the power.
  • Remove skirting boards as far as they are removable.
  • Mask the window and door frames (and possibly also the skirting boards) well - including the inner workings of switches and sockets. Lay out the floor with foil and paint fleece. Cover any furniture still in the room with foil.
  • Stir the color thoroughly. For a small container, a stick or similar is enough. For a large paint bucket and if you still need to mix the paint, a stirrer on the cordless drill or the drill is recommended.
  • First, the corners and edges are painted with a brush. Then roll with the roll surface by surface, wet in wet, even and covering. Read the manufacturer's instructions. Many colors are to be painted in the cloister, ie once horizontally and once vertically. Avoid drying out of the lugs. So always finish at least one wall before it is interrupted, otherwise the approaches may later be seen.
  • Some paints cover in a painting, if carefully worked. If a second coat is necessary, allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second coat in the same manner.
  • Remove the tapes while the paint is still wet. Fold cover foils and painter fleece inwards with the color side inwards so that there is no contamination on the floor or other surfaces. It is best to remove any paint stains immediately (remove dispersion paint).
  • Allow the room to air dry before allowing it to be used again.
