You want to send a cabinet? What's the best way to do that? How much does it cost? We show you the prices of different shipping companies and explain on top of everything else you need to look out for when shipping.

How much does the shipping cost?

The cost of shipping depends on the size and weight of the cabinet, but can be divided into rough categories, with deviations of up to 50cm or 20kg no price reduction or increase result.
For example, the DHL Maxitransport for bulky objects up to a size of 600cm (L) x 230cm (W) x 200cm (H) and a weight up to 100kg 45 Euro. Deviations down do not result in a price reduction, but deviations upwards increase the price quickly.

In the following overview you can see the prices of various shipping companies for shipping a cabinet (disassembled) with the dimensions 180cm (L) x 50cm (W) x 10cm (H) and a weight of 40kg.

What to look for when shipping?

If your cabinet should arrive safely and without scratching the receiver, it must be properly packed. This is also a requirement if you want to take out insurance. If the cabinet mirror breaks when you send it and you can not prove that it was properly packed, then no insurance will pay you for the damage.
Therefore, you should note the following packing rules:

  • Pack each larger part of the cabinet individually. Never stack more shelves without separating them with cardboard. Even a small grain of sand can otherwise cause the surface to scratch.
  • If you do not completely disassemble your cabinet, drawers and doors should be fixed with furniture tape and any loose parts such as shelves or clothes rails should be removed. Alternatively, you can also glue them in the cabinet. However, it is safer to carry them extra.
  • Pay particular attention to corners and edges on a sufficient padding.
  • The entire piece of furniture or the individual parts, which are to be summarized as a package, must finally be completely wrapped with bubble wrap, a furniture cover or similar and then packaged.
