If you work in a workshop very often with compressed air, the installation of a stationary compressor may be worthwhile. The individual tools are then connected with air hoses to taps in a permanently installed compressed air line.

To avoid this, some compressors offer an oil-free connection, but often you will have to put a filter in front of the tool that separates the oil from the air. One should remember, however, that good filters are not cheap. So, if you plan to paint with the compressor, the ability of the compressor to deliver oil-free air ex-works can be crucial to your purchase.
