Dishwasher read error code and delete


As in other areas, the digital age has not stopped at dishwashers. The electronics in the devices promise the highest level of comfort, but can also be a real test. Fortunately, malfunctions are often stored in the error memory. You can also influence the behavior of the device. Below you will find information on reading and deleting error codes on the dishwasher.

Most electronics facilitate device handling

Electronic components can now be found in almost all devices. What the microprocessors and software do is usually not consciously perceived. Probably, if something is wrong with the device. However, it is always advantageous to know how electronics work in household appliances.

Working principle of electronics in a dishwasher

In principle, the operation is extremely simple. The commands stored in the device are usually "if-then" commands. That is, if something specific happened, then for example:

What happens when an error is triggered

But even the electronics in the dishwasher is not always infallible. It can also creep in mistakes that do not exist at all. In the car we know that too. Not always is there a mistake behind it

If the dishwasher has been functioning properly so far, but now a stored error is displayed, it makes sense to read it and then delete it. However, after clearing the fault memory, you should not start repairing the dishwasher yet. Rather, you should first let the dishwasher run normally again.

As already mentioned, it is not uncommon for an error to be triggered even though it is not present or has occurred only once (not reproducibly). However, if you had to determine after the program started that suddenly the error memory reports a problem, you must repair the dishwasher.

The reading from the fault memory of the dishwasher

The fact that an error is stored in the error memory is usually recognized by a specific behavior of the dishwasher. Most of the time one or more LEDs will flash permanently if an error has been stored. This flashing is then the indication that the memory should be read out. Reading the fault memory is also different. Either you are guided to the error menu-driven or have to set the selection keys accordingly.

For this purpose, however, the readout process must first be started. This is done via hidden menus. These can be activated by pressing a key for a particularly long time or a specific key combination.

Never try without instructions to read the error memory

Under no circumstances should you just try any keys, as this can lead to serious damage. You could change the configuration of the dishwasher without knowing it. Even with different models from the same manufacturer, the readout process can be started quite differently. Because even the error memory is deleted. If there really is a serious mistake and you accidentally delete it, it can do more harm to the dishwasher.

Of course, not all errors or defects are stored. Only those can be stored which can be detected by the electronics, ie if corresponding sensors etc. are present. Do not expect that all defects can be saved as errors.

Tips & Tricks

Contact the manufacturer or a service representative. In addition to the exact procedure, you also need a table with the complete error codes. These are usually displayed as a number or code. This error code can then be assigned to defects in the table.
