The dosage of the rinse aid on the dishwasher

Dishwashers can be found in most households today. In particular, because of the enormous development of the devices, however, there are always problems in the basic operation. This also applies to the rinse aid. All you need to know about the rinse aid and the dosage in the dishwasher.

That requires a dishwasher

More and more households now have a dishwasher. But especially due to the small amounts of water that modern dishwashers need, it always comes back to seemingly not clean rinsed dishes. In general, you first have to distinguish between the different products that a dishwasher requires or between which you can optionally differentiate:

  • regeneration salt
  • rinse aid
  • dishwasher powder
  • cleaning Tablets

Significant differences between older and new devices

Many owners of a dishwasher, in particular, have difficulties with the cleaning effect after they have bought a new device. This is mostly due to the significantly lower water consumption of the dishwasher. But even with older devices can cause problems. Here again, usually after a product change or a move.

Tabs versus dishwasher powder

Basically you should use dishwasher powder, rinse aid and regeneration salt. Tabs, on the other hand, are available as single-tabs (pressed detergent only) or multi-tabs (2in1, 3in1, 5in1, 11in1, etc.) and also contain rinse aid and salt substitutes. These tabs are not only up to five times more expensive and burden the environment with their g.

Possible cleaning problems

If rinse aid and regeneration salt are used at the same time, overdosing may occur, which in turn appears to be due to poor cleaning results, especially on stainless steel and glass:

  • white layer, bad to remove
  • white coating, easy to remove
  • Streaks in the rainbow colors

Basically, a salt overdose is responsible for poorly removed white plaque. Schlieren means an overdose of the rinse aid, easy to remove topping an underdose, but possibly also an overdose.

Simultaneous or instead use of tabs and rinse aid or salt

It can also happen if you do not use any rinse aid at all, since you are using tabs. Nevertheless, for the reasons already mentioned, a conversion to the three individual products regeneration salt, rinse aid and dishwasher powder is also recommended here.

The water hardness

If the water hardness is not correct, this is usually the case after a move to another region or a new device that is not yet adjusted to the existing water hardness. Here's how to set the water hardness on the dishwasher.

Adjust the dosage of the rinse aid on the dishwasher

Either in the bottom area or on the inside of the front flap, you will see the closure for washing powder and rinse aid. Fill the rinse aid by opening an extra flap on most units. Here you will also find a regulator on most of the devices with which you can set the dosage for the rinse aid (on a scale of 1 to 5, 1 to 6 or 1 to 10). At the top a transparent, small sight glass is attached. If it gets lighter, the rinse aid must be refilled.

Tips & Tricks

If you swear on tabs despite the high cost, you still have to be careful which tabs you buy. Especially new generation dishwashers absolutely need tabs that are tailored to the significantly lower amount of water.

Regardless of whether it's tabs or dishwashing powders. For all products (including regeneration salt, if available) use the same manufacturer. It happens that products from different providers literally do not get along with each other.
