Braiding double bar mat fence (privacy screen)

Probably the biggest disadvantage in the eyes of many people is probably the high transparency of wire fences. Manufacturers have long been reacting to this and offer special mats for braiding. The double-rod matting fence is particularly well suited for braiding.

Advantages of a double bar mat fence

The double-rod mesh fence is increasingly replacing the classic chain-link fence. After all, it brings many advantages that the chain link fence does not have:

  • much more stable
  • Although consuming, but still very easy to build
  • can also carry high weight, for example by planting
  • hardly needs regular maintenance

Screening from planting or interwoven

We have summarized here for you how you can plant a double-rod mesh fence, because planting is the second option for creating a privacy screen.

However, as a permanent and year-round screening only ivy on double-rod matting fence is suitable. Otherwise, there is still the possibility to weave appropriate plastic mats in the double-rod mat fence.

The selection of matching privacy screens

There is a tremendous variety in terms of colors and finishes. Much more important, however, already in the selection of the quality. In particular, when the double-rod mesh fence is exposed to the sun all day, it must be a really high-quality plastic.

Cheap products can not withstand UV radiation and are usually fragile, porous and faded after the first season. The panels should be made of polypropylene with UV protection and have a minimum thickness of 1 mm (the minimum).

Preparing the irises

The mats for the double-rod matting fence come in standard sizes such as 50 x 200 mm (width by height). This has the advantage that the corresponding manufacturer can also offer Einflechtmatten exactly at these heights such as 200 mm. The Einflechtmatte must therefore be shortened only in length.

The braiding in the double bar mat fence

In addition, it may be that at the ends, so at the fence post, a small piece must be cut out in the bar gear, in which at the same height the angle stops are mounted as a support of the fence mats on the post. Otherwise, however, no further cutting work is required.

The mat is then simply braided between the different transverse bars. Of course, you do not have to pass this mat through every vertical bar. You'll need to try how far you can guide the mat so you can still brace yourself. Here, the material properties of the braided mats used play a major role.

Once you have determined the optimum distance for you, the mat is braided at the appropriate distance (counting vertical bars) once before and once behind the fence (from your perspective of the standing position).

The conclusion at the fence post

There are again different solutions for the degree. There are plastic rails in color of the panels. The panel is bent over the last vertical bar in front of the fence post, then the rail is simply plugged.

However, the distance between the last strut and posts remains transparent. Therefore, there are rails along the length of the fence posts that are easily mounted on the posts. In cross section, these are then like a U-profile, the panel is simply pushed behind it.

Tips & Tricks

You can also weave panels in different colors and textures. Your imagination knows no bounds here.
