Clean the drawer of the washing machine - so easy!

From time to time, both the washing machine and the detergent drawer must be thoroughly cleaned. If you miss this time, you notice a musty stench when removing the actually clean laundry. How the drawer of the washing machine is cleaned, we show you exactly here.

Release bracket

Most of the time, you have to bend over a bit to look in the drawer. There is often at the top of a strip of plastic, which can be pressed down. For many machines, a small manual is engraved in the plastic. Otherwise, simply try what can be moved on the drawer by pressing it. For other washing machines, you actually have to read the manufacturer's instructions, because the fixings are so hidden that you can not get ahead with just trying it out.

Disassemble drawer

Even inside the drawer, there are still hidden angles and slots. Especially behind the compartment for the detergent for the pre-wash there is a separation. Also behind and in the softener compartment is often still a special partition, which should prevent the fabric softener runs too fast.

This whole division is usually very winding and inaccessible. The old detergent residues form regular crusts, if they are not flushed out with. Therefore, it can be a bit difficult to remove the dried soap soiling of the past few weeks and months. Therefore place the drawer items in the sink and allow hot water to run on them. So the drawer of the washing machine can soak for a while. Most of the rest is almost done by itself.

  • Take out the drawer
  • Loosen individual parts and clean separately
  • Soak the drawer in hot water
  • Rub drawer with cup brush or bottle brush

Tips & Tricks

If you are already there, you should also clean the inside of the washing machine yourself. They do not have to choose the hottest wash, just a color wash. However, you should choose a program that may have a short break. Otherwise, simply stop the machines for a moment after running water. Instead of detergent, you should put in the drum a decent dose of vinegar. This also reduces the limescale on the heating rods.
