Put the dryer on the washing machine

Put the dryer on the washing machine: washing

A bathroom with a washer and dryer is handy, but both units need 1.2m of space next to each other, which not every bathroom has. Nevertheless, you do not have to do without a dryer. It is also possible to put the dryer on the washing machine and thus save space.

To build such a "washing machine tower", there are various solutions to choose from. The trade offers an intermediate kit or intermediate frame, which in addition to a good attachment often also offers a pull-out compartment. The solutions are thoughtful and safe.

But even with simple means and without high costs, it is possible to put the dryer on the washing machine. All you need is a piece of worktop and some angles that can be found in almost every workshop. Quickly according to our instructions, the washing machine tower is created.

Required work materials and aids

Depending on the selected method, different tools and tools are needed.

Washing machine tower with intermediate kit:

  • spirit level
  • possibly a cordless screwdriver

Plate between washer and dryer:

  • spirit level
  • Saw (best table or circular saw)
  • Cordless Screwdriver
  • at least six steel angles

Washer on dryer or upside down?

Often it is asked if a washing machine can be put on a dryer. In principle, the question can be answered with a yes. However, it should be noted that the washing machine causes significantly more movements and therefore requires a secure footing. If this is not guaranteed, the washing machine tower can become unstable and the washing machine can not counteract an imbalance when spinning. The fuses must be drastically strengthened in this case.

Unless there is a drifting reason for this arrangement, it should be avoided to put a washing machine on the dryer. It is equally dangerous to place a dryer on a smaller washing machine. For this purpose, a larger footprint for the dryer should be created with a secure frame.

Step 1: Sizing the matching worktop

Place worktop fitting on the washing machine.

Often washing machine and dryer are set up without tools as a tower, which is very dangerous. It must be created in any case a connection between both devices. In our example, each worktop is placed over washer and dryer and secured.Without connecting a washer and dryer, vibrating the washer may cause the dryer to "move" and fall off the washing machine tower. In the worst case, not only the equipment can be damaged.

What is needed, therefore, is a worktop that can either be sawn or can be purchased as a remainder from the hardware store. The worktop requires a standardized depth of about 60 cm and a width that rests on the entire surface of the washing machine. A larger width is not needed, which saves a lot of space.

For the majority of washing machines a worktop of 60 x 60 cm is needed.

Step 2: Secure the worktop with an angle on the washing machine

So that the worktop holds securely on the washing machine and can not slip, it must be secured. If it is larger than the washing machine, can be attached around bars, which looks very attractive. However, if you want to save a lot of space in the bathroom or washroom, the fuse should be as narrow as possible.

It would be possible to simply attach a board to the side of the worktop and at the same time secure the washer and dryer in combination. However, this has the disadvantage that loosen the mounting screws and thus can fall off the fuses. Angle, on the other hand, offers a very good security in the case of very small space requirements. The angles are fixed vertically with screws in the worktop and take on the side forces. Thus, the screws can not be pulled out of the wood.

Whether the worktop is slightly wider or minimally smaller than the washing machine does not play a major role here. The correct distance can be set with the angles. To do this, measure the exact width of the washing machine and then align the angles. The distance to the front and rear edge should be roughly evenly divided.

Since the washer and dryer are in almost all cases in front of a wall and therefore can not slide backwards, the worktop only needs to be secured against movement forward. This can be done by a further angle on the rear side. Observe the distance between the machine and the wall (marked in blue).

Step 3: Attach the tumble dryer fuses

Install additional angles to secure the dryer.

After the worktop has been secured on the washing machine, additional fixtures must be attached toStack washer and dryer to be able to. Also in this case angles are used. As you can see in the pictures, angles from the workshop-fundus were used. The important thing is that they are stable and the thighs are long enough. This can be quite inventive.

As with the washing machine, the footprint of the dryer must be accurately measured to position the angles. But it is also possible to put a trial washer and dryer on top of each other, to position the angles and mark. After the dryer has been removed from the plate, the angles can be screwed on.

Unfortunately, it is rarely possible when setting up the dryer, this invisible against slipping forward to secure. But with the visible angle at the foot of the dryer, you can arrange and adjust the color of the dryer if necessary.

Step 4: Place the washer and dryer on top of each other

The worktop sits securely on the washing machine and angles have been placed on the worktop to hold the dryer. With this method will beWasher and dryer secured with a worktop, Refined, cheap and above all quickly implemented. An extra connection frame, rack or cabinet is not needed for this. However, if the appropriate space is available, a cabinet can provide additional storage space for detergent and softener. In the example shown, the washing machine tower is in a washroom which is currently being rebuilt. Again, the gap to the wall is filled with a shelf and created space for washing utensils.

As an extra backup, a mat can be placed between the washer and dryer. The anti-slip mat not only absorbs vibrations, it also relieves the angles.

Tip: drain for washing machine and dryer

Dryers differ fundamentally in exhaust air dryer and condenser dryer. Since exhaust air dryers blow the moist air into the room or require a connection to the outer wall, condensate dryers are preferred. Here, the moisture of the laundry is collected in a container, which must be emptied regularly.

What some do not know - many condenser dryers can be connected directly to the drainpipe. If the washing machine and dryer are stacked on top of each other, you can also combine the outflow of both units (good to see in the pictures above). Often this simply the hose must be removed, which conducts the water into the collecting container. This can be put through a preparation in the back wall to the outside and directed into the drain. The collecting container must never be emptied again.
