Elevator control - gently to the destination

Today, controlling a lift does more than we think. It not only brings us gently from floor to floor. It even ensures efficient use of elevators on several elevators, and may even put a few elevators into sleep mode when there is little use. Here we show the common controls for the elevator.

Liftboy or automatic control

Today, there are hardly any liftboys and even if, the entire elevator group is still ordered by a higher-level destination call control. The hand control or lever control has thus completely served in public buildings with multiple elevators. Even in private elevators or in a small residential building, the hand control is rarely found.

Types of elevator controls

The efficient driving course of the elevator is taken over by the control just like the opening and closing of the elevator doors. However, the control also ensures gentle and smooth starting and braking.

  • Hand control / lever control
  • collective control
  • Push-button control
  • Destination control

Push button control for the residential house

In private homes and apartment buildings, the push button control is today the usual elevator control. Only one call or one command is stored. The inside command always has priority. If a command is entered inside, the elevator blocks all further entries until it has completed its command.

Since this is of course completely uneconomical at many stops, the push button control is now only used in elevators with a maximum of five stops.

Collective control - one by one

This control stores all the commands that are entered outside or inside the elevator and works them one after the other. The collective control is divided into three different variants. On the one hand there is the up or down collection control and on the other hand there is a full collection control.

In this case, two buttons are installed so that the passenger can already determine his direction of travel beforehand.

Fall asleep and save

An elevator needs a lot of power, there is hardly a way over. But so that the elevator does not need electricity even if nobody uses it, the controller should turn it off automatically. Because the fan, the cabin light and the displays otherwise need a lot of power around the clock. The period after which the elevator goes into stand-by mode can usually be determined by yourself.

By pressing the call button, the elevator should completely wake up again and return to its awake state as quickly as possible. Often this also means that the fan quickly removes the stale air in the elevator before passengers board again.

Automatic control

A completely automatic control is so far only aimed at load lifts. For example, dining cars or beds are automatically moved to the correct pre-set floors. However, as a rule, no persons are allowed to accompany the loads.

Tips & Tricks

When building an elevator, look for an elevator control system that exactly fits your needs. What does a highly-engineered controller help you if you only want to travel two stops in a private home? In this case, it is more important to have an automatic shutdown, so that as little power as possible is needed.
