Fold Fitted Sheet: A Guide

Fitting a fitted sheet together can be a real challenge. We will explain step by step how to fold your sheet clean and give you a quick, easier alternative.

Problems with folding fitted sheets

Due to the elastic band and the shapeless shape of the fitted sheet, the corners can not simply be stacked and put together. If you try, the result is usually a messy pile that takes up a lot of space in the closet. We will explain in a few steps how you can fold your fitted sheet together neatly. The most important thing: they have to stand and should have a table or a large open space in front of them.

Step-by-step guide to folding a fitted sheet

1. The first folding

Stand upright and grab each in an adjacent corner. The longer side should be horizontal to the floor so that the bed sheet does not drag on the ground when folded.

Now push the two corners into each other and put one over the other.
Do the same on the other side.

2. Shake

Now reach into the two upper corners, which are now double-layered and shake the bed sheet well.

3. Turn right

Now lay the once folded bed sheet as smooth and neat as possible on the table. Smooth the corners and edges. Also grab in the pages.

Then hit the right side once towards the middle. The edge can either extend all the way to the middle or end a few inches from the center.

4. Turn left over

Now hit the left side towards the middle and smooth out all corners and edges again.

5. Wrinkles

Now beat the bottom edge up on the top edge and smooth out everything.

Turn the package 90 degrees and knock the bottom edge up again. If you want it even smaller, you can fold it again.

Ironing when folding

Many housewives also iron sheets when folding. This has the advantage of eliminating wrinkles and reducing the air space between layers, for a more compact result.
However, you should check before ironing, if your fitted sheet may be ironed. To find out how to iron on the care label, click here.

The fast alternative

Alternatively, you can simply fold your sheets twice in length and then roll up like a sleeping bag. You can also roll up duvet covers and stack them in the closet.

Tips & Tricks

So you no longer have to search the sheets and the matching duvet cover and pillowcases, you can push the folded fitted sheet together with the duvet cover in the corresponding pillowcase. This looks good and saves space in the closet.
