Lay garden boards and make your own property beautiful

If you lend a hand in designing the exterior of your garden, you can save a lot of money. For example, you can lay your own garden tiles, look at various types of laying beforehand, and fall back on tips and tricks.

The design of gardens and the creation of garden paths

Garden plates are important elements to create useful garden paths and to make your own garden appealing and to your own taste. They protect your lawns, flower beds or vegetable beds and can walk through the garden without getting wet or dirty shoes, especially in bad weather. As garden plates you can choose from numerous floor coverings. The important thing is that you buy frost-resistant panels for outdoor use, which also should not have too smooth surface. There is no unnecessary danger of slipping in wet or ice.

Proper preparation for laying the garden tiles is important

Self-laying gardening boards is a relatively straightforward matter if you prepare the floor properly. If you lay tile coverings with joints, you should pay attention to a sufficient slope so that excess water can drain off. Of course, the gradient should be away from the building. A corresponding substructure is also important. This one has to be absolutely firm and even. If you use concrete slabs, a water-permeable substructure made of sand and grit is usually sufficient.

Preparing the substrate and laying the garden plates

All the work is done in several steps:

  • Determine as exactly as possible the distance for the garden plates and their course and mark them.
  • Now create the substructure by excavating the ground and adding sand and gravel.
  • Now follows the actual laying of the plates. You should make sure that the plates are on a secure surface and do not wobble.
  • Use a vibratory plate (which you can borrow from a machine rental company) to consolidate and compact the substrate.

What else should you pay attention to

If the concrete slabs or garden slabs have to be grouted, you must still apply quartz sand to the joints. This is returned to the joints, so that a flat surface as possible can be created without larger gaps.
