General instructions for a drilling well

The principle of a well remains the same regardless of depth and diameter. A general guide summarizes the steps that are common to each well. They only need to be slightly modified if specific conditions change. This includes depth, soil layers and texture.

Completely prepare materials and tools

Before commencing drilling, the components and tools needed to make the wells must be completely available. The required amount of well pipes, sealants and joints depends on the depth of the well. When registering the well, the responsible lower water authority can tell you the height of the local groundwater level and the amount of water.

Depending on the type of construction and type of use, well pipes must be purchased according to the depth of the well, if necessary for a deep well over ten meters deep. Usually, the well pipes are offered in individual elements, each one meter in length.

Instructions for a well

1. Prepare drilling site

Both during drilling and during execution, the preparatory measures for a well are identical. Around the later borehole, a free flat area of about one meter in diameter must be created. For very soft ground, fixing by wood or stone is recommended. The surface serves as a support for the mounting of a tripod that is needed with pulley and rope for later Plunschen.

2. Excavation depot or sink

For the disposal of the soil originating from the borehole either a storage area must be created or a direct discharge, for example, by a standing wheelbarrow to be made possible. When the well hole is flushed in, it is necessary to excavate a roughly one square meter flush pit in the immediate vicinity of the borehole.

3. Build a tripod

The tripod should be as ready as possible ready for installation to be ready to start immediately after drilling with the Plunschen.

4. Select diameter

The drill hole size for the hole must be the outer tube diameter plus at least five centimeters of the well ring.

5. Drilling or flushing

Drill or flush to the desired groundwater level.

6. Insert filter and tube

Carefully insert the filter tube from two to three meters so that it does not slip off and "disappear".

7. Plunschen

If necessary, bring the final seat of the well pipe through the blotter.

8. Filter gravel and clay barrier

After laying the well pipe, pour the filter gravel into the fountain ring. If necessary, insert one or two clay barrier layers.

Tips & Tricks

As a slip-off aid against the "disappearance" of the pipe at the beginning of the piping makes a pipe clamp attached to the pipe good service.
