Remove gypsum plaster

Gypsum plaster is easy to apply and inexpensive. He conveys a pleasant room climate. Thanks to its positive qualities less experienced craftsmen are happy to use this plaster. But if he has to be removed again, the effort is great.

Gypsum plaster needs strong equipment

Once properly plastered plaster sits firmly and is difficult to remove again. To get rid of it, you can choose different methods. Hand work with a wide spatula or chisel and a hammer is laborious. This method is only recommended for removing plaster from a small wall surface.
Large walls or even entire rooms should be treated with an electric spatula. When working with the spatula, large amounts of dust are generated. Gypsum plaster can also be removed with an electric scraper. The electric scraper moves back and forth and handles rather thin layers of plaster. A cleaning cutter works with milling wheels. They mill the plaster from the wall. The milling depth can be adjusted to the thickness of the plaster layer. This prevents too deep milling and damage to the masonry below the plaster. Modern devices suck dust during the milling process. Depending on the design, the other electronic tools can also be coupled with a vacuum cleaner.

Do not forget the dust mask

Canceling or milling gypsum plaster is associated with heavy dust development. The fine dust pollutes the respiratory tract and can cause irritation and other health problems. A dust mask protects you from these impairments. Dust masks are available in different qualities. Under the name FFP2 you get a dust mask with a filter performance, as it is needed in demolition work. When demolishing gypsum plaster, it offers good protection. An FFP2 dust mask is equipped with an exhalation valve. You can easily exhale while wearing the mask. The used air is discharged through the valve.
