Inclined lift carries almost every load

An inclined lift is used on many construction sites for the transport of heavy loads. This serves the smooth logistics and saves working time. There are also different systems and requirements for the inclined lift. However, in most cases, people are not allowed to carry it. Therefore, there is a distinction between an inclined lift and a funicular railway.

Funicular or inclined lift

For the passenger, it is often hard to see whether it is an inclined lift or a funicular with only one cabin. The difference is only in the current directive. In the general perception, however, the inclined lift is always a kind of goods lift, which is based on a building, while the funicular railway carries passengers in most cases.

Examples include the Gelmerbahn in the Canton of Bern in Switzerland with a gradient of 106 percent or the inclined lift in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the Olympic Stadium. Of course, there are a lot of other inclined lifts that act on the passenger like a funicular.

Inclined lift for the construction site

When setting up a scaffold with a height of more than eight meters, a goods lift, usually an inclined lift, is even required. But there are many other applications for an inclined lift. Depending on the purpose of use, transport height and load capacity, there are different systems, some of which can also be flexibly changed.

drive method

The drive can be installed on the sloping goods lift both above and below. So that an inclined lift does not have to carry the whole load up to its height, which would require a lot of energy, a counterweight is usually required.

If there is still no electricity on the site, some inclined lifts are also operated with a gasoline engine. Because of the Emission Protection Act, however, very specific conditions must be observed here that a specialist company should know.

Important aspects for an inclined lift

To ensure that the right freight lift can be set up, the client has to worry about a few questions. These decisions not only save money later, they also ensure the success of each project.

  • Which material should be transported?
  • How heavy are the loads?
  • How wide and bulky is the transport load?
  • Is there already a power connection?
  • How are the space available on site?
  • Is there a solid surface?

Sled or platform

For most inclined lifts, there are various transport options. On the one hand to have sledges on which the loads are attached. In addition, platforms of various sizes can often be purchased to the inclined elevator. But even on a platform, the loads must be fixed so they can not hurt anyone.

Tips & Tricks

If you need an inclined lift more often, look at the used models. In some cases you can save more than half of the initial costs and yet often receive an indestructible, robust freight elevator. In recent years, many small businesses had to give up, so you can often get a cheap goods lift, which was little needed.
