Creative design and works are clearly a current trend. If you want to enjoy home improvement, you should pay attention to a good quality of tools and materials used. Equally important is a construction manual that helps you to build and DIY step by step.

The present construction manual was created in cooperation of Bosch Power Tools, Alpina Farben, LUX Werkzeuge and UHU. The joint concern of these companies is to provide ambitious DIY enthusiasts as well as newcomers with high-quality products, but also to give ideas and to help with tips to make building and crafting enjoyable and safe.

You will also find a beautiful illustrated instructions by Ponal for a colorful sitting area for the nursery. Have fun rebuilding

Round children's table with storage space and baby chair with clown face

Building instructions: Build colorful children's tables and booths yourself: children

This table has exactly the right height for little children. There is plenty of room on the large, round slab to build towers with the first building blocks, to let cars go back and forth, to paint or to look at a picture book.

The right seating is a colorful child's chair, who quickly becomes a favorite piece of furniture with his funny face.

The base of the table has two flaps for opening. In the "Cave" under the tabletop the cuddly teddy can live or the first slip-car parked in his garage.

The two pieces of furniture - Children's table and children's chair - can be reconstructed with the present construction manual. The material list helps with the purchase.

Build a children's table and children's chair yourself

    Step 1:

Building instructions: Build colorful children's tables and booths yourself: colorful

The construction begins with the scoring of the tabletop and the bottom plate. The subsequent circular cut is made with the jigsaw. A curved saw blade was supposed to be clamped into the machine. Before the cutout of the floor slab, the position of the six supports (side walls) with two drill holes each should be fixed in an angular state (it is easier). If the bottom plate is also sawed out, the screw holes are drilled and countersunk for the screw heads from the underside. With a 15 mm Forstner drill, the two bores are now being introduced, in which the right round rods of the doors will later be installed. The doors should open and close around these bars later. The bottom plate must be exactly centered on the underside of the table top. To make the holes perpendicular and with the correct depth (10mm deep into the table top), a Lux Drill is best used.

    Step 2:

Building instructions: Build colorful children's tables and booths yourself: building

The vertical edges of the six side panels have already been rounded off with a router. Now they are individually placed with glue on the previously marked positions and pressed with the help of appropriately sized screw clamps at right angles. With a large metal angle compliance with the right angle when tightening the clamps can be controlled. Subsequently, the side parts are also secured mechanically from below with 3.5 x 40 mm screws. The screwing is easier and faster with a cordless screwdriver than by hand. Note, however, that Always pre-drilled in MDF boards should be.

    Step 3:

Building instructions: Build colorful children's tables and booths yourself: building

The door arches are cut out and refinished on the edges. To precisely drill the holes for the 15 mm rods, two sheets are always placed one above the other and connected with two pins. The holes are drilled so that in the part, which will later serve as the upper door arch, only 10 mm deep blind holes arise. Only for the torsion bar must be completely drilled. The spacer rings, which later come to the torsion bars, are first drilled out of 4 mm plywood and then sawed out.

    Step 4:

The individual parts of the doors - Round bars, door arches and spacers- are assembled with glue. For accurate installation, a rectangular MDF panel serves as a "template". If the door is flush with the top and ends of the door and also rests on the corners, it will be easy to install later.

    Step 5:

Building instructions: Build colorful children's tables and booths yourself: build

The substructure stands. Now only the plate must be glued, aligned and then pressed with clamps so that the doors have the same amount of play at the top and bottom. Also, the projection of the table top to the supports and to the front edges of the door entrances, which are located on opposite sides, must be the same. (If this is not the case, it may happen that the door bars deviate from the vertical.) The doors will each with a magnetic catch, which is to be mounted under the table top, kept closed.

    Step 6:

The tabletop was in our example painted with colorless parquet lacquer.

To do that as smooth a surface as possible The area should be treated beforehand with an orbital sander.

    Step 7:

Matching the table, will still built the baby chair. The circular section of the floor slab must first be worked on where the back and the front supports are to be installed in such a way that straight surfaces are created. The supports are glued on. In addition, the connection is reinforced with 6 mm wooden dowels. Likewise, the backrest is moved. Also, the seat is straightened at the rear edge for connection to the backrest over a width of 100 mm (see drawing). To further enhance stability, the support triangles are made of 19 mm thick MDF material, which are glued to the front supports and the backrest. After glueing the seat, the protruding dowel ends must be cut off with a fine saw and sanded clean. Then the chair can be painted and the head can be designed.

    Step 8:

The colored design Of course, it is left to your own taste. In our example, some surfaces were provided with parquet seal, thus emphasizing the natural grain of the wood. When using the acrylic-based sealing varnish from Alpina, the brushes and rollers used can then be washed out with water.

To see if all wood panels are the right size, set the plates together for a trial.
