The iron sticks? It will be clean again!

Sometimes iron-iron residue remains on the sole of the iron, and in some cases sticky dirt will settle out. Then the iron begins to stick to the next use, which leads in the worst case to contamination of the textiles to be ironed. This effect can be prevented: we present you several cleaning methods.

Clean the sole of the iron

An adhesive iron can be cleaned in most cases relatively easily with a cleaning stone for ceramic and ceramic. It does not matter if the sole is made of steel or ceramic, both materials will normally be clean again.

The plaster is available in the drugstore or on the Internet and costs only a few euros. The micro-beaded material is first moistened to dissolve and then spread over the soleplate with a damp cloth.

After cleaning the adhesive iron, you should completely remove the residue of the plaster with clear water. After drying, the device is ready for use again and will usually no longer stick.

Old home remedy for sticky residues on the iron

Another way to thoroughly rid the sole of the iron of glue and debris is to look at Grandma's recipe book. In ancient times, the problem was solved as follows:

  • Wrap an old candle in a cotton cloth.
  • Heat the soleplate.
  • Iron with the glued iron several times over the wrapped candle.
  • You may now wipe the iron on a clean cloth: ready!

Also other old home remedies are certainly worth trying. For example, some old-fashioned hammers rub off their sticky irons with cotton salt sprinkled on cotton or use toothpaste to clean and polish.
