But do not worry, installation is easier than you might think!

Tools and materials

Many steps in the assembly of the kitchen faucet can be solved with the bare hands, but at the latest when tightening the screw connection additional tool is needed. In addition, some assembly steps work easier if you can grab the pliers.

Mount standing kitchen mixer

Most sink faucets are standard fittings that are stuck in the tap hole of sink or worktop. The assembly process in this variant goes well by hand, even for beginners in the field of home improvement, the installation should not cause problems.

Mount kitchen mixer yourself: water

To connect a kitchen faucet yourself is not difficult and all necessary parts already included.

Before you start the installation, the old model has to give way. First turn off the hot water supply via the angle valves. As a rule, two valves should be found. If only one is available, it is a special low-pressure fitting - we will take care of this assembly later. The angle valves are turned off? Then open the faucet and let the residual water escape. Then place a small bucket under the angle valves and remove the fittings hoses from the fittings, the remaining water catch you with the bucket. If the screw connections can not be loosened, a tongs will help. Then loosen the attachment of the kitchen mixer from below and pull the mixer from the top of the tap hole. Then clean the recess, as it likes to collect dirt and mold.

All done? Then it can start with the actual assembly:

  • Step 1: With your hands, turn the connecting hoses into the bottom of the fitting body. You may add the threaded rod. For models with a hand shower, a short hose is included, which is usually tightened in the middle.
  • Step 2: Feed the hoses and fitting through the tap hole.
  • Step 3: Attach the attachment and tighten the nut with an open-end wrench.
  • Step 4a: For models with a hand shower, connect the shower hose to the shower head. Guide the hose through the spout and attach it to the short flex hose. To stabilize you still clamp the weight to the shower hose.
  • Step 4b: Apply rubber seals to the ends of the flexible hoses and then connect them to the angle valves. Pay attention to the correct assignment of hot and cold water. The red (warm water) and blue (cold water) markings help here.
  • Step 5: Open the angle valves and the sink fitting, check all connections for leaks. If the surface remains dry, great! If not, close the water supply and check the seat of the rubber seals.

For an angle valve: install low-pressure fitting

As already mentioned, a special kitchen fitting is installed in just one angle valve: the low-pressure fitting. In addition, this variant requires a boiler or a hot water tank, which is stowed in the sink.

Under sinks angle valves are often used.

First turn off the boiler and disconnect it from the mains before removing the old mixer tap. Then close the angle valve and disconnect the hoses from the water connection and from the storage device. With a small cup you catch potential leftover water. Remove any residual water from the fitting by opening the crane. Now loosen the screws of the tap and pull out of the tap hole. Then free the recess of dirt and debris, already the actual installation can begin.

  • Step 1: Manually turn the three flexible hoses into the bottom of the fitting body. Maybe add the linkage.
  • Step 2: Then insert the kitchen fitting with the hoses into the recess of the sink or worktop.
  • Step 3: From below, attach the rubber washer, the metal washer and the nut. Tighten the screw connection with the open-end wrench.
  • Step 4: Place the boiler in the desired position, connect two hoses of the fitting to the appliance. Here are the corresponding markings.
  • Step 5: Use the cold water hose of the sink mixer to connect to the angle valve. Then turn on the valve and the faucet to bleed the boiler.
  • Step 6: Now set the lever to warm. Once the water flows out in a uniform stream, connect the boiler to the mains.

Installer with questions

As a rule, the stand fitting can be mounted easily - even by less experienced do-it-yourselfers. In case of problems, a professional should still be consulted. For example, for connections that drip despite repeated testing of the seals. Even with disagreements with electrical appliances such as the hot water tank you should ask for your own safety rather than acting easy.
