Elevator lift - early planning

An elevator should be flush with its bottom plate exactly to the floor in front of the elevator. Therefore, of course, you need some space under the elevator. If the elevator is retrofitted, special attention must be paid to the sealing of the elevator's undercarriage. The construction is simpler if the lift is planned right at the beginning.

Construction planning with elevator

Hardly anyone already thinks of a lift during construction planning. Due to the lack of elevator underfoot, the construction of an elevator is not only more difficult, it is also more expensive. If you really want to make provision for your old age with your single-family home, you think of an elevator during the planning phase and build the elevator lift as well as the elevator shaft right away.

In this phase of construction, this is still relatively low cost. The actual elevator can still be installed later.

Solid seal protects against damage

The biggest problem with a lift lift is the groundwater. This pushes into the trough, which represents the elevator ride. This can ultimately damage not only the elevator and its electrical system. In the long term, the building will also be damaged by this moisture.

The seal is therefore the most important factor in the construction of a lift ride. Both the sealing sole and the concrete tub must be sealed absolutely reliably. Therefore, some companies are now producing special lift underruns in complete systems, which additionally save part of the construction time.

Retrofitting

If an elevator is retrofitted, the subsoil must be dug under the elevator shaft. Some parts of the drive are mounted as well as the platform construction under the cabin, so the necessary shaft depth can even be up to 150 centimeters.

Lucky is the homeowner, who owns an unused cellar at this point. Under certain circumstances, however, an external elevator is better suited due to the need for a lift elevator.

Electric lift with cable or hydraulic lift

The electric elevator, which is conveyed by a cable, requires a much larger elevator undercarriage than the hydraulic elevator. In addition, the hydraulic lift can be used to install the machine room up to about eight meters from the elevator shaft.

Some hydraulic lifts only require a lift of 15 centimeters height. Which, of course, is a considerable advantage especially with retrofitting.

What to look for when the elevator is lowered shortly

  • Sealing the tub
  • Planning before building a house
  • elevator system
  • Ensuring the construction company
  • Dimensions and depth of elevator ride

Tips & Tricks

If you already think of lift planning when building the building, a finished elevator lift is the simplest and often the tightest solution. The complete elevator undercarriage is made of concrete according to specifications in reinforced panel thickness. This shaft has a circulating and pressure-watertight construction joint tape as well as cable eyes, which facilitate transport to the construction site. Since the complete part is used in one piece, drying times and waiting times on the construction site are eliminated.
