Apply lime plaster indoors

Lime plaster is a classic, used for centuries building material for interior and exterior walls. Especially in the interior, as an ecological and natural building material with outstanding properties, it is experiencing a real renaissance. In addition to the classic processing method, today there are also many finished products with almost equally good properties.

lime cement plaster

It is suitable both as a base coat and as a top coat and is offered by many plasterer companies as an alternative to traditional cement plaster for a minimal surcharge. If you can plaster yourself, you can also resort to a very classic - and unbeatable - alternative: self-extinguished lime and the finest possible, sharp-edged sand possible. This Kalksandputz is extremely durable, unbeatable low and with some skill even by hobby artisans succeeded. He only has a slightly longer drying time. He should be treated after application best with lime milk.

Kalksandputz corresponds approximately to the just described. One hears also the term Luftkalkputz off and on for it.

Lime plaster as a rolling plaster or brushing plaster

This variant is the easiest to process, but is obviously only suitable for the top coat. The flush should be made of a suitable material as possible, which is also breathable and well-adherent. Besides, it should not be very chilling.

The slightly higher price of lime plaster compared to synthetic resin plaster compensates for the much higher yield - almost twice as high for the same container size - again something. Only on the grit with structure plaster you have to pay attention here:

For very chalking plaster also Kalkrollputz needs a primer coat, otherwise not!

Especially coarse grain sizes of about 1 millimeter grain size, or sometimes even more reduce the yield of lime plaster to about half!
Here it is then more expensive with the rolling plaster or coating. It should also be taken into account that even when brushing, the yield is slightly lower than when rolling. Otherwise, any roller brush can also be used as a brush and vice versa. Only in the case of the very large grain sizes should one use the role rather than the tassel or brush to obtain a balanced structure.

Lime lime as a coating on lime plaster

A good and anciently used paint on lime plaster can also be made with lime lime. This enhances the positive properties of indoor lime plaster - breathability, mildew resistance and moisture-regulating properties. After completion of the carbonation and the painting then forms a smudge-resistant, very solid and durable surface. It can also be tinted with different lime-based dyes.
