Ricc - I blog for you
For the third time, the now world-famous Maker Faire took place in Hanover. After being only visitors last year, this year I showed again my (re-styled) Accurenners.
The last two visits have been an experience and apparently they have not only pleased me. Although I do not know any numbers yet, I would say that the number of visitors has increased significantly. ++ Addendum ++ It is now known that there were over 10,000 visitors this year.
For me, the kick-off started a bit stressful. I decided to take part in the event quite briefly and if I could not offer any new racers, my older model should at least get a new paint and additional lighting. What I have done quite well - I think at least. Thanks for the suggestions in the forum. Both children got their favorite color and in addition I installed the right lighting. To keep the lights on juice, now a second rechargeable battery was disassembled and I can provide both racers, each with a 10.8 V Li-battery.
The first day at the Maker Faire Hannover
our stand
Friday morning it started already 5:30 clock. The car I had already packed the night before and after a coffee I could start with my daughter. The Navi said 7:45 clock we arrive, which would fit exactly, because the construction was allowed to start 8:00 clock. We were a bit faster and over punctual. So we were able to unload in peace and start building even before eight. The weather of 30° announced earlier this week was not confirmed, but it was warm and humid with 24°. Also only partially pleasant. The setup was done relatively quickly, hunger and coffee craving spread and I started my first tour looking for food. Before the opening, I was able to look at a lot at least in peace. For breakfast there was coffee and the tastiest brownies in the world. Must also be mentioned.
- Ferris wheel
- 3D printer
- Wall-E
- ball track
Participate for young and old
My two vehicles are race cars and run between 22 and 27 km / h. I think, you forgive me that it was not allowed to drive children. On the one hand, it is too dangerous for me without protective gear, and on the other hand there is a lot of work in addition to money. But then my daughter has turned every now and then a show round and at the shown acceleration of the small Renner, many parents had understanding for my decision. Some would have banned their children from using it afterwards. ?
Participate wanted
But my neighbor was designed by Watterott to participate, which my daughter could not say twice. After some soldering at home, she was thrilled with the offer and built three small boards with RGB LED's. At the same time it went on and after some crafting time on small rockets, these were allowed to be shot down with compressed air. A great thing, which is now on my craft list at the top. If it is so far, of course, follows a corresponding construction manual.
- clean soldering place (like at home)
- Concentration!
-
- First build a rocket...
- ... then fire with compressed air
Great highlights
Maybe highlight is the wrong expression, because somehow all projects had their charm and were unique. After all, that's exactly what makes the Maker Faire and makes it a highlight for yourself time and time again. Still, the huge "vehicles" such as LRRY-1's fire-breathing bull / dog (or whatever) by Lyle Rowell and the Time Cruiser of the Dutch Abacus Theater group were a particular eye-catcher. While the Timecruisers rather quietly, quietly and dignified turned their show rounds, LRRY-1 stamped loud and dangerous around the area. Since it was called hair, otherwise you have my hairstyle. Not so nice but just as short. ?
- Well, the drive unit recognized?
- Even monsters need pats
- over a ton in motion
- Dragonfly in large format
Movement of your own kind
You have to be able to fly.... Well, we are content with driving for the time being. And that's exactly what the specialists at Maker Faire were looking for. No matter if big, small, loud or almost noiseless, vehicles were presented in many forms. I am always impressed by what, and above all, in what way something is moved here. Of course, the little Bobby Cars should not be missing. They were seen as solar models, with which the Ravensberger inventor workshop has successfully participated in the Solar Cup. By contrast, the self-made car was a lot louder and a motorcycle, which provided a rich exhaust sound. It became quieter again with the wheels of Power-Bike.de. After all, e-bike is not just e-bike. Who sets on leg power, of course, is on the way longer and should not forget the Strickliesel.
Steampunk and tools
Of course, no Maker Faire should be lacking and always enthusiastic, the projects of Steampunk Design and colleagues. But not only the antique design pleased. For me personally, there was a supplier of small metal cutting machines with the name Unimat 1 in the eye. The training is finally in me. These small lathes and milling machines almost replace a 3D printer, which of course could be seen in masses again.
- Steampunk without end
- Is that old or high tech?
- Small machines for model making
- Mini-lathe
My conclusion
great view from the hotel
Even though after two days I was absolutely exhausted and hoarse from the many explanations and the big one of my battery racers had to travel home with a great deal of damage, it was once again a great experience that I will not forget. Many pictures, many impressions, nice acquaintances and also a little pride in the great interest in my projects make this weekend unforgettable. Maker Faire Hannover 2016 I'll be back and sure I'll visit the Maker Faire Berlin on the 3rd and 4th of October.
But I also have to get rid of two thanks:
The first one goes to the Maker Faire team, who really went out of their way to support Maker. Especially the evening event with all exhibitors was successful and the supply delicious. Thanks for that.
The second thank you goes to the visitors who had a lot of interest, patiently waited with their questions and thanked almost everyone afterwards for the information. A very friendly event.
Until next time
