Competition change of wallpapers: Architects and interior designers show wallpapers are a real space saver

Outlook on the wallpaper of the future: design

Wallpaper competition

The aim of the competition was to deal with the design possibilities of wallpaper. The result is impressive: 182 submitted works turn wallpaper into a multifunctional design element. For example, a wallpaper encourages sitting, lying, leaning, and moving, ending up in thick, fluffy rolls on the floor or on the wall. In the walk-in closet, as a glamorous wall frieze, it adorns the empty space above the wardrobe or stretches across the floor, wall and ceiling as a net. But it also offers two perspectives in one and the same room: For example, two siblings can share a room and yet everyone gets their desired design.

From all submissions, the jury of internationally recognized jurors - such as Bert Haller, Andreas Ramseier and Stephen Williams - has selected six creative designs, the implementation of which is now being examined by experts from industry.

Special emphasis was placed on the design "less shows more" by Birgit D. Meier - an easy one transparent wallpaperwhich, for example, reveals exposed and beautifully plastered walls of old masonry or Gründerzeit buildings. Depending on the pattern, material or color choice, a new and individual pattern is created. "In the age of imaginary trends, the design by Birgit D. Meier is a blessing. Here, traditional, well-known and marked by traces wall surfaces are reinterpreted. The design impresses with its clear and superior idea, which makes many execution requests possible ", so the jury's reasoning.
