The price for Plexiglas is gradually created

More than many other materials, the price of Plexiglas depends on the thickness and color of the material. When comparing prices, it should be taken into account that Plexiglas is a registered trade name and identical products are offered under the generic name acrylic glass.

Pricing and manufacturing process

The variety of possible applications of Plexiglas ranges from the "glazing" of interior showcases over "window fronts" to load-bearing floor slabs. Most manufacturers and retailers offer transparent plates between two and thirty millimeters, with ten to twelve standard thicknesses. The range of thicknesses of colored and satined Plexiglas is limited with an average of six standard thicknesses.

Plexiglas and other acrylic glasses are offered in two production variants. The cheaper Plexiglas are extruded sheets produced by a pressing process. Easier to handle and process is the more expensive cast Plexiglas. When drilling and cutting no fiber bonds occur and the flexibility in shaping by heating is greater.

Cuts or package size

Depending on the supplier and manufacturer, only fixed plate sizes as a whole or individual blanks can be purchased. Anyone who chooses an expensive Plexiglas, despite the higher price per square meter at the dealer, who offers a cutting service, get away much cheaper. The price advantage also has an effect on the total cost of the Plexiglas, since the already done cutting and reworking no additional time and materials consumed.
