Mount a purchased or self-built washbasin

In both home-made and finished products, a washstand must be mounted in a fixed design order. The only exception are masonry variants in which the substructure and the plate are completed as a kind of skeleton first. The connection represents the last step during assembly.

Fixed position during assembly

In most cases, the position of a vanity is dictated by the corresponding ports in the wall. The tolerances in the lateral displacement are within narrow limits of only a few centimeters. In particular, the drain must allow a vertical installation as possible, to ensure the drainage capacity of the pool or pelvis.

Material determines work steps

The material that makes up the washbasin has an additional influence on the mounting. Washbasins made of wood, fiber or composite panels are assembled like pieces of furniture. Thereafter, the sealing of the wall joint, usually by connecting backfilling. Finally, the pipes and pipes are connected:

1. Assemble furniture in accordance with assembly instructions or layout plan
2. Mount the basin and any fittings on the plate and seal
3. Slide the assembled washbasin to the final position
4. Attach any wall mounts
5. Seal the wall joint if there is no pelvic table
6. Install supply and discharge installations

Another order of work arises when the washbasin is masonry, the plate is firmly and / or freely supported on the wall or replaced.

1. Adjust plate in the outer dimensions
2. Saw off basin and, if necessary, fitting recesses
3. Fit the plate, install it and secure it to the wall with screws
4. Insert or set up the pool
5. Apply silicone gaskets to the recess and pool edges
6. Seal wall joint by backfilling
7. If necessary attach fittings and also seal
8. Install pipes and supply lines

If the vanity top is mounted directly on the wall, the weight of the pool must be considered. Depending on the masonry and wall structure, stable anchor holes or many angle and support fixtures must be used during installation. For unstable, hollow or uneven masonry, the washbasin can be installed in drywall. Large-area, behind or under the wall screwed multi-purpose plates serve as a mounting base.

Dimensions and dimensions

When measuring a washstand assembly, the height and positioning of the faucets and basins are particularly important. The appropriate dimensions of a vanity are subject to some technical requirements. The height of the slab must be at least 32 cm above the drain connection in the wall.

Only after measuring according to the structural conditions, the subsequent steps are taken. This includes, for example, the self-build the vanity top or measuring, adjusting, hanging and mounting a vanity unit.

Tips & Tricks

For any extensions or additional connections such as the integrated connection for a washing machine, you must observe the inclination and discharge angles. The drain pipe for the washing machine waste water must not rise too steep, because the pump of the washing machine can be overwhelmed by it.
