Resin flooring is increasingly conquering the living area

Until about twenty years ago, a resin floor was almost only found in commercial and industrial areas. The enormous resilience and durability in combination with ease of care has meanwhile also made private use socially acceptable. The trend towards functional interior design has also contributed.

Advantages of the formerly industrial flooring

For a long time, synthetic resin flooring in the private sector was mostly used as a garage floor or on balconies. With the emergence of functional interior design and, for example, converted into living space former industrial premises, the synthetic resin floor has increasingly found its way into the direct living area.

The through-dried and cured resin floor provides a durable and non-evaporating floor covering. Its enormous surface hardness is virtually indestructible by private activities even when dropping heavy fragile objects. Against water, moisture, fats and oils, the resin reacts repellent. Dirt can be easily removed by pulling or wiping.

Creative design freedom

Apart from the practical features, the variety of design makes a synthetic resin floor also interesting in the living area. From the intended concrete look to unicoloured luminous or opaque surfaces to the incorporation of geometric patterns and color gradients, there are virtually no limits to creative design.

The synthetic resin, which is liquid during processing, can be given reflective, transparent and glimmering effects by using the appropriate ingredients and additives. The surface designs range from high-gloss over matt and milky to non-slip roughness with a gritty effect. Combinations in a room and look-through effects such as old historic masonry allow for attractive design ideas.

Structural feature

Structurally, the visible useful floor covering and the screed often grow together in a synthetic resin floor. A floor heating system does not need a separate screed storage and can be integrated directly into the synthetic resin floor. In large-scale and pulling through several rooms resin floor, the building moisture loads must be balanced very accurately.

A synthetic resin floor corresponds to a diffusion barrier and does not let moisture through. If there is or is building moisture in the masonry, this will seek a way in the masonry. Therefore, the entire building fabric must be provided with Sollabbaustellen for moisture when laying resin floors.

Tips & Tricks

If you are planning synthetic resin floors in a new building, you include advantages such as jointlessness in your building design. In bathrooms or other wet rooms, custom drain drains that are already fitted with synthetic resin floors can increase your design freedom.
