Set shutters

Adjusting a shutter with motor depends very much on the type of motor. According to the name, the end stops on the mechanical tubular motor must be adjusted manually using knurled nuts. In the case of electronic motors, the programmable board circuit adopts the setting by pressing a button.

Operation and processing values

Electrically powered belt winder motors are mounted in the wall at the bottom of the belt. They have the basic function of a push-button triggerable end point, which stops the movement immediately. If the electrically defined stop point does not trip, the resistance of the mechanical latches will automatically switch off the device.

When using a tubular motor, both mechanical and electronically controlled models are available. Depending on the manufacturer and the scope of the control unit, the electronic versions can be adjusted by programming by pressing a button. So-called string setting devices allow the definition and adjustment of the end points without having to open the roller shutter box. In a mechanical tubular motor setting is more complicated.

Set shutters with mechanical tubular motor

  • screwdriver
  • Maybe pipe wrench
  • Maybe wrench
  • Maybe lubricating oil

1. Expose engine

Normally, after unscrewing the roller shutter box, you can expose the tubular motor by lowering the possibly already attached roller shutter armor. You should be able to see the single-sided gearhead and the double rod mechanism of the drive.

2. Check adjusting screws

On the outside of the gearhead are two setscrews, each with a plus and a minus direction markings. Turn one of the screws and see if the knurled nuts move on the corresponding threaded rod. In case of blockages or hooking, a drop of oil helps on the threaded rod.

3. Adjust step by step

Assign the adjusting screw their direction. Run the roller shutter in the "open" position to the lifting point. Correct too early or too late stopping the motor by turning the adjusting screw. Approach the desired end point piece by piece. Proceed in the same way with the other setscrew.

Tips & Tricks

You always have to work from the inside out when setting up. First, set a shorter path of the shutter. The temporary upper end point must strike too early so that the roller shutter is incompletely wound. Conversely, the temporary lower end point must be set so that the shutter does not close completely.
