Roofing felt R333 is used less and less frequently

Roofing felt type R333 consists of an insert made of raw felt, for which the letter stands in the name. The number indicates the weight of the roofing felt per square meter that the manufacturers comply with. Since raw felt is not rot-free, today glass fleece is used.

Roof shape is often crucial

The roofing felt of type R333 is no longer used in normal buildings and buildings and is no longer permitted as a waterproofing layer in regulated buildings.

The main use of the reasonably priced roofing felt R333 is covering of carports or sheds, whereby the durability is limited. Depending on the weather, the lifespan of most products is between five and ten years.

Many processes and additional components are used in production to give the R333 roofing felt special properties.

  • By rolling in sand, gravel or slate shards UV resistance is increased and the abrasion is lowered.
  • The sanding of the surfaces is done with slate, sand or other minerals and additionally increases the stability.
  • R333 roofing boards are relatively thin and can tear easily during transport and installation. An alternative is the R500, whose weight of 500 grams per square meter makes it thicker.
