How do you best clean and maintain a laminate floor?

Laminate flooring is considered beautiful, durable and easy to clean. It is a modern covering made of different components, arranged in several layers. As a rule, you can wipe the laminate with a damp cloth and, if necessary, clean it with a little detergent, if this is necessary because of the soiling. Basically, you should follow several steps to get a perfect result:

  • First, remove coarse dirt in the form of crumbs or pebbles. This is best done with a vacuum cleaner or a suitable broom.
  • Now follows the wet basic cleaning, which means wet only damp.
  • Under no circumstances should too much water be used as this may otherwise penetrate the soil and cause damage there.
  • In certain cases it may be advisable to wipe with a dry cloth to remove the last traces of moisture.
  • For some laminate floors, it makes sense to apply an extra care product to protect the flooring.

When it comes to heavier soiling, quick action is required

As you have already read, a heavily soiled laminate should not be exposed to excessive moisture. Otherwise, the water can penetrate into the joints and severely damage the flooring. You should not use overly strong detergents in the form of aggressive chemicals as these can attack the very sensitive surface of the laminate floor. If heavy soiling occurs, it is very important that you react quickly. Whether it is about colors, leftovers, oil or fats, it does not matter. If you notice the mishap, you should act quickly.
