Build TV wall mount yourself

Meanwhile, flat-panel TVs are likely to have largely prevailed. These do not always necessarily stand on a console like a board. The most practical thing about flat screen TVs is that they can be hung on the wall like a picture. But the brackets are expensive. Therefore, here's a guide on how to build a TV wall mount easily and with little financial outlay yourself.

Fix the TV set (flat) to the wall

The TV attached to the wall, of course, quickly creates a tidy impression. Here we show you what has to be considered because of the weight of a drywall because of the TV.

There are two different types of wall mounting for the TV:

  • simple mounting plate, rigid
  • Articulated arm, vertically and horizontally adjustable

The simple mounting plate is usually enclosed with the TV. But even the subsequent purchase is not too expensive. This looks different with a movable wall bracket. Here, the manufacturers really call prices that are beyond good and evil. The DIY of such a TV wall mount is worthwhile very quickly.

As for the material, you did not need much:

  • a rigid wall mount (profile) to the back of the TV
  • a twice as large profile frame for the wall
  • 2 threaded clamps
  • a triangular profile in the width of the wall profile and with a hinge for attaching to this profile (on which the vertical sleeve for a bolt or a threaded rod is placed)
  • Two small profiles on which a square small profile is welded or screwed on at right angles (these small profiles must have round holes
  • a metal sleeve that can be fixed vertically to the TV mounting profile (weld or screw)
  • a long bolt and a matching sleeve to which the threaded clamps can be attached

1.) Assembly of the items

On the TV mount a sleeve is mounted vertically. This can be screwed or welded. The bolt, which will be inserted here later, is attached to the bottom of the top of the triangle profile. The hinge of the triangle profile is fixed at 90 degrees to the wall bracket at the bottom (also welded or screwed).

At the top of the bolt, a sleeve is pulled over, on which a threaded clamp can be attached. Now the square profile profiles are welded or screwed to the wall profile, through which later the screws are inserted, which receive the other side of the two threaded clamps.

2.) Hook in the threaded clamps and fasten the wall bracket

Now the lower thread tensioner is connected to the sleeve at the bottom of the triangle tip with the big bolt. The upper threaded clamp is attached to the top of the stationary bolt. So the TV can later be adjusted comfortably and really fixed up and down. The lateral pivoting is easier because here simply the bolt in the sleeve is rotated laterally. Now the construction can be attached to wall and TV set.

Tips & Tricks

In summary: the wall profile has a triangular profile with a hinge at the bottom and is at the same time connected from below at the wall bracket downwards with a thread tensioner. At the bottom of the triangular profile, which can be moved up and down, is the long bolt, which is pushed into two sleeves. Above, the second threaded clamp is connected to the upper sleeve on the bolt. The support plate on the TV is now also secured with the sleeves. This sounds complicated, but it is actually a very simple and efficient solution, which is also very cheap.
