Collective wage of the masons

Depending on the state, wages are quite different. The collective wage for the masonry trade is not always decisive, because not all companies are affiliated to the tariffs of IG-Bau. Therefore, it is important to negotiate well yourself.

State and company

Depending on the state, the tariff payable by a bricklayer may differ significantly. In principle, all masons should receive about the same salary, but in structurally weak regions, the salary may vary significantly.

The wage problem is similar for different companies in the industry. Not every company pays according to the tariff or is bound by the specifications of IG Bau.

Minimum wage in masonry

In the western federal states, the collectively agreed hourly wage was at least € 13.70 per hour. In Berlin, the masons got as a minimum wage only 13.55 euros. However, this is merely a basic wage to which a charge is added for each hour that the mason is used on a construction site.

Basic wage for masons

The collective wage for the year 2014 in Rhineland-Palatinate, for example, is 13.17 euros. There are also 0.78 per hour of construction. Therefore, 13.95 euros are on the pay slip for a beginner in masonry. This is the second level of the collective agreement.

Classification within the tariff

Somewhat strange are the different interpretations of the companies. Here, the trained bricklayer without a professional experience, ie the beginner is classified either in level two of the collective agreement among the skilled workers or in level three among the skilled workers.

This assignment already makes a possibly painful difference in salaries. One should therefore follow the attitude exactly when the boss promises a tariff payment, as the classification should look exactly.

Good opportunities for advancement - higher salaries

The big advantage, when working as a bricklayer, are the good career opportunities. Even without special training, one can specialize in certain activities on a particular branch of craft.

At the same time, you can work your way up to a foreman or a polisher through good leadership. These promotions do not necessarily require further examinations. In most craft shops, the ability counts in this case rather than the appearance.
