The wall design in wiping technique

A popular and not difficult to implement wall design is the wiping technique. Many different aids and tools allow to create exciting structures and textures. In addition to various painting tools, some tools can also be produced well from other materials. More or less "ordered" patterns are possible.

From little clouds to flames

If walls are to be spiced up, the wiping technique offers itself. It is used to process paint already applied to the wall. Since the basis of the design physically depends, in principle, on dilution levels of the color intensity, the target color tone is lighter than the base color.

The choice of color should take into account the resulting brighter sections. Color combinations are possible, which increase the wiping effect. While "clouds" dominate in the monochrome range, color blends can produce effects up to "flames". White with a different hue or complementary color partners create the most attractive whitewashed walls.

Possible painting tools

Simple painter role

The applied paint is partially diluted with the paint roller with more or less strong watering of the roll, a structure is painted in any shape. Fan shapes are popular.

Effect paint roller

Effective rolls create patterns in themselves through pits and beads on the roll, which in turn create desired patterns by the distribution and dilution factor.

brush

To wipe with a brush, a slightly thicker paint job must be present. A particularly popular effect is the mother of pearl glaze, which is applied on the paint as an additional layer.

Other possible tools

brush

With a brush, a variety of effects can be incorporated into the fresh wall paint. The combination of two different brushes also offers great design freedom.

Effect glove

In addition to the special effect gloves available for painting in the hardware store, massage gloves are also an interesting tool for implementing the wiping technique.

Rolled textile fabric

When painting with rolled fabric, the wiping is usually applied as a new layer on a dried base coat. Since textiles change their impression effect when saturated, this aid places higher demands on craftsmanship.

sponge

The classic tool for wiping wall design is a sponge. It dilutes the moist and fresh paint spread and can be used very dosed.

Tips & Tricks

Think of the dominant effect of wiping technology in conjunction with your facility. "Colorful" walls and "colorful" curtains or furniture can quickly lead to a restless room atmosphere.
