  • Clean the washing machine
  • Disconnect the washing machine
  • Drain remaining water from the washing machine
  • Screw in transport locks
  • packing

Do not carry the washing machine to the car unprepared

But before you carry the washing machine, you should think about the further transport. Can the unit be upright or transported horizontally? Especially transporting a washing machine horizontally can lead to massive damage in the machine. Follow the link and find out what can happen and when the transport is acceptable.

Residual water in washing machines

If necessary, you should rent a van in which you can transport the washing machine standing upright. On the other hand, you do not necessarily have to drain off the residual water. After pumping, there is still water in the machine. Also for new machines, as they are rinsed and tested before shipping.

Draining the water has many advantages

However, avoid water leaking during transportation and during transportation. If the washing machine is to be stored longer or at least not connected, avoid that the residual liquor can start to rot. It also makes the machine lighter and with less water, the case will not get wet and then slippery.

The better you are prepared, the less likely it is damage

Of course, wearing anything except the enormous weight of washing machines is not difficult. Nevertheless, you should be prepared as best you can to avoid unnecessary damage.

1. Preparations

Depending on why you need to carry your washing machine, you should make some preparations. So it makes sense to clean the washing machine in a sale before carrying and shipping, so that no unpleasant odors can arise. To clean the washing machine you can use conventional descalers, but also vinegar or citric acid. Please note, however, the exact procedure.

2. Disconnect the washing machine

Now pull out the appliance plug and disconnect the water inlet and drainage hose from the wall. Then wind up the two hoses and the power cable and attach everything to the washing machine with a cable tie.

3. Drain off remaining lye

In particular, during a long transport or if you want to store the device, the drainage of all water is recommended. In addition, if you carry the washing machine to your private car, then to transport them lying down. Because at the latest now runs out all mixed with detergent waste water.

You can drain the water either via the lint filter or a special drain hose next to it (only newer and not all machines have this hose). In addition, there is the opportunity to clean the lint filter of the washing machine.

If you need to drain the water from the lint filter, you should raise the washing machine slightly. Because the container from the sieve is a solid housing at the bottom of the base of the machine. It's hard for you to put a container under it. But even if a drain hose is present, it is advisable to position the washing machine elevated to really get all the water out of the machine.

4. Screw in the transport locking bolt

After purchasing and connecting a new washing machine, the transport bolts are removed. These should necessarily be canceled. Now, if you prepare the washing machine before wearing, you should put it back. This prevents the drum tub from being thrown around uncontrollably inside the machine.

The exact position of the transport locking screws can be found in the operating instructions for your washing machine. Mostly only the drum is secured, with some machines but also the balance weight is fixed under the drum.

5. Wear the washing machine

A washing machine is carried by two people. A sack truck probably helps only conditionally (steps). The machine is tilted from front to back. The person behind must therefore pack the device at the top back. Here, the painted housing is usually flush with the cover plate and the machine accordingly smooth.

Therefore, gloves should be used with which you can grasp well. Otherwise, you can lay the machine and then pull straps on the front and back. Wear the washing machine but traditionally, as already described, wearing is not easy for the front person.

The front carrier must grip the machine below beside or on the feet. But the plate of the washing machine housing is here usually folded inwards and correspondingly sharp-edged. If you want to wear the washing machine without appropriate gloves, this fold can painfully press into the hand or even cut.

Tips & Tricks

In particular, when the washing machine has to be carried down stairs, the two occupants should be strong and stable. The one who carries the machine at the top of the top, usually goes after. Especially on stairs increases the risk that the device literally slips out of his hand. Carrying straps or a handcart suitable for staircases make carrying a lot easier.
