A single bed is especially suitable for people who sleep alone or for guest rooms. To sleep in a single bed for two in the long term is tiring, even if you are very fond of one another. In Ikea e.g. The outside dimensions are given directly, so you will often find odd details like 97 x 207cm. The most common single bed sizes are between 90 and 100 cm wide and 200 and 210 cm long.

Double beds are suitable for people who like to have plenty of room for sleeping or for two people. In Germany, double beds usually consist of a bed frame with two slatted frames and two mattresses.
