What does gravel cost?

The universal building material gravel consists of round grains with grain sizes between two and 63 millimeters. Its use ranges from aggregate for cement to washed decorative scree. The majority of gravel varieties is inexpensive and can be used for different purposes.

Gravel for functional tasks

The many different grape varieties can be roughly divided into two main groups. Many gravel have mainly functional tasks such as increasing stability or filling cavities.

These include the inexpensive filling gravel, a specially sorted and mostly washed drainage gravel and the screed gravel used as a supplement for cement.

The specially sorted and affordable concrete gravel can also be counted among the group of functionally oriented gravel varieties. Of particular importance in the construction industry is antifreeze gravel, which protects the walls, floor slabs and road pavements.

Gravel as an optical design agent

The second main group of gravel serves artistic and visual purposes. These include special and often also the multicolored sorted decorative gravel. Depending on the quantity and attractiveness, they usually have a higher price than the functional gravel and some particularly expensive pebbles consist of semi-precious stones.

Not clearly attributable to one of the main groups is the Rheinkies, which is named after its locality. The same applies to other river giants such as Weser or Mainkies, whose range of properties can have both functional and creative emphases.
