Since both are time-consuming, this step must be performed before the window is removed.

Remove window and prepare window recess

Of course, we also provide you with instructions in the house journal for removing the window. Please note that when installing the windows according to the RAL guidelines you will have to clean the window reveal cleanly. Of course, we also offer you to window plastering items. If you have followed everything, you can start by setting the new window.

Step by step guide to setting a window

  • Window frame (preferably, of course, complete new window)
  • Leveling chocks
  • Pu foam
  • Mounting screws (anchor bolts without dowels according to RAL)
  • rubber hammer
  • spirit level
  • drilling machine
  • Wood and / or metal drills
  • possibly work manager

1. Preparatory work

The preparatory work is the work already mentioned, ie the measurement of the new windows, the modernization of the window recess when installed according to RAL. Make sure that plaster and putty have enough time to cure.

2. Set the window frame

Now put the window frame. With wooden wedges and a spirit level you bring all sides of the window frame into the water. At the same time, the wooden wedges wedge the frame so that it still sits firmly later.

3. Attach the window frame

In the next step, fasten the frame anchor bolts. If you use modern anchor bolts that follow the RAL guidelines, they no longer have dowels like the previously used anchor claws. This dowel would namely represent a thermal bridge.

Of the frame corners, the frame screws should be at least 10 cm away. Otherwise, the distance between the individual screws should be between 60 and 80 cm, depending on the window. First drill the holes in the wooden frame with a suitable wood drill, then later the continuation in the soffit with a stone drill.

4. Sealing the window frame

Here, it may also come with RAL assembly to deviate from the guidelines. The RAL guidelines recommend very expensive sealing tapes. Instead, however, many companies use PU foam in conjunction with plaster moldings. It is a compromise, but it is acceptable from an economic point of view. Not to be confused is this use of PU foam with the earlier sealing of camber and soffit (possibly also roller shutter box) with PU foam, which is absolutely out of date. For that you had the soffit finely filled before.

5. Further work

Now your window is set and in further steps you can now install the window or even mount a roller shutter.

Of course you will find numerous other articles around your windows in the house journal. So of course dispose of the old window.
