Swipe windowsill inside and out

Each sill can and others must be deleted. While wooden sills do not last long outdoors without protective coating, interior window or stone sills are painted for visual reasons. The right products are available for every stroke.

Wood and natural stone

Window sills made of wood should be painted both inside and outside. If the texture is to be worked out on solid wood or real wood veneer, transparent lacquers are the right choice. Inside, the surfaces can be painted with wood oil or wax. For a colored coating, a very thorough pre-treatment is necessary because different suction intensity of the surface lead to stains and uneven ink coverage.

Natural stone can be painted with special paints and must be primed beforehand. Normally, acrylic paints are the right choice, especially in the outdoor area bring the necessary weather resistance. A multiple coat is necessary and the preparatory cleaning must be done very thoroughly. Granite should be sealed on the outside.

Aluminum and other sheets

When painting a windowsill made of aluminum or other metal sheets, the compatibility with the surface must be taken into account when choosing the color. Many ingredients in paints, such as acrylic, chemically react with the metal, which can cause brittleness and, in the worst case, cracking and rusting. For older dented or with rusty cracks aluminum window sills is usually worth installing a new windowsill.
