1. Measuring and planning

When planning the bed, keep in mind that it is not the external dimensions of 140 x 200 centimeters, but the internal dimensions. In case of doubt, measure your slatted frame again which size is required. You do not necessarily need special fittings that beds are normally connected to. After all, you know where to undo which screws to move with the bed.

You need strong slats or thin beams of at most 10 x 10 centimeters. Of course, you can also use thicker woods if you like the look, but that's not mandatory. For the head and foot ends you can use as a professional cladding for example profiled wood. But laminate with a beautiful decor is suitable for this, since the ends have no supporting function.

2. Join legs and side panels

On the bars, which serve as a side part, you should screw on the inside down each a crossbar. The batten should be pre-drilled and secured to the side panel with at least three screws. These slats later serve as a support for the slatted frame.

Use wrench screws or bolts to screw the side panels to the upright posts. For this you should pierce the posts and pre-drill the side panels at the front. For the key screws you need the appropriate spanner or a water pump pliers. If desired, you can lower the heads of the key screws in the wood. For this you have to cut a large enough hole in the post with a large countersink.

3. Attach foot and headboard

The end parts for head and foot are mounted in the same way in the desired heights. It is ideal if you attach the lower batten just below the side panel. The second batten will then bring you just below the desired height of the end of the bed or headboard. These two slats each end serve to carry the decorative woods. Instead of individual boards, you can also attach complete panels to these slats, which you can get with a foam padding.

Tips & Tricks

From a size of 140 x 200 centimeters you should use a center strut in your bed. This should be supported like the four outer feet on the ground. For a double bed, it is better to install two struts across the bed area, which should also be supported.
